I love to know about people’s first experience with this cupid of love. I usually ask people when they felt like it wasn’t only meant for movies. Most stories are common, they start in school and end up being immature love which doesn’t last even for a month.
But this story was different. While getting my Car serviced in the garage, I looked at my mechanic and felt that he was charming in his own way. When the car went for washing, we sat together with him drinking his tea. I had known him from 3 years but never did I have the courage to ask him this. I don’t know if it was the way he told me or whether it was my liking for the guy but I was really fascinated with his story.
Him: It’s been 27 years of marriage. I don’t remember falling for any other women.
Me: Go back 27 years. Go back to your childhood. There must be something.
Him(After some thought): Okay there was something. I don’t know if I’d call it love. It was spring and you fall in love with everything in spring. I was small. Not big enough to understand something as complex as love. We lived in small temporary houses. And just opposite our road, there were big government houses owned by rich government people. One day while coming from work(in the same garage) I saw her getting out of a car. I was barefoot and tanned while she was sublime and white as milk.
I don’t know why I liked her so much. Maybe because she was the most beautiful thing I had seen in my miserable life.
Me: Tell me about her.
Him: there is nothing to tell. I don’t even remember properly. But she was not like those girls in magazines. She wasn’t beautiful for something as temporary as her looks, she seemed beautiful deep down her soul.
Me: So what happened?
Him: Nothing happens when there is so much difference between the statures of two people. Once I hit the ball in her balcony while playing cricket. But I intended nothing more than just to see her once more. They shifted eventually.
Me: I think you loved her.
Him (laughed): If she comes to my garage someday, I wouldn’t be able to recognize her. It has been this much time.
Me: Yet you remember so much about her.
We had a good laugh. And he went to fixing cars. Maybe it would just be a childhood infatuation for some but for me it will forever be the truest love story I had ever heard.
